Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari has claimed that he will encourage his team to produce a similar performance to the one at Atletico Madrid on Saturday against Ajax.

The Argentine tactician avoided to reply on whether he aspires to win all three competitions they are competing in, including the Champions League, LaLiga Santander and Copa del Rey and praised the Dutch side, highlighting the quality in their squad.

“I hope that tomorrow the team will play as serious as they did three days ago, and that is the aspiration of the players too, as that’s why we compete,” Solari told the press.

“I don’t think Ajax are going through a bad period, as they are having a good season and they have very good players.”

Sergio Ramos will play his 600th game as a Real Madrid defender on Wednesday and Solari hailed his captain’s influence on the team.

“He has a wonderful character and he is tremendously competitive, that’s why he has played so many games,” he added.

“Madrid have the stamp of his character and I hope we can enjoy him in as many games as possible.”

Finally, he indicated that he will decide after Tuesday’s training session who will play at left-back, with Marcelo and Sergio Reguilon competing for the berth.

“There’s a training session left and we’ll see tomorrow [who will play],” Solari noted.

“Marcelo is a great man and he is our second captain and an emblem of the club.

“He’s training very well, like the rest of the players.

“We all love him and he works with joy every day and in every training session.”
