Morata didn’t hold back against his former teammates in the derby

Alvaro Morata made his Atletico Madrid home debut against former club Real Madrid on Saturday, yet it wasn’t the dream bow he would have hoped for as his side were beaten 3-1 by the team he once represented.

It was a difficult game for Morata, who had few chances to score, and ended up on the turf six times in a tough battle with his old teammates.

In fact, he was the Atletico player who seemed to have the most animosity and tension with the men he once shared a dressing room with.

He first had a clash with Dani Carvajal, who he believed had exaggerated a foul upon him and let him know about it.

In the second half came a moment of greater intensity, as he pushed Casemiro aside in an attempt to have further words with Carvajal.

On one occasion, he even exchanged words with Sergio Ramos.

It wasn’t his best performance and his disallowed goal summed up what was a difficult afternoon for him.

He wanted to start well in front of his new audience, but things went wrong and not even the continuous encouragement of Diego Simeone could help him.
