Jan Oblak is rated as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers and Atletico Madrid run the risk of losing him in the January transfer window with the player unhappy that he has not received an improved contract, according to MARCA.

During the MARCA awards gala he made it clear that he could walk away and it shouldn’t come as a surprise for the club as on previous occasions the goalkeeper has told the president Enrique Cerezo, delegate Miguel Angel Gil Marin and sporting director Andrea Berta.

When asked at the event on Monday how long he expected to stay at Atletico he replied: “I don’t know, yes for the moment I am here.”

Oblak has a deal until 2021 but has not received an improved contract since 2016, only indications that something will happen while at the same time practically all the rest of the squad have seen improvements in their contracts.

Atletico are calm with the fact he has three years to run on his deal and that never before has 100 million, his buy-out clause, been spent on a goalkeeper. However, it is true that it is getting nearer with 80m euros spent on Kepa by Chelsea.
