Madrid ‘were willing to pay €214m for Mbappe’



Football Leaks has revealed that Real Madrid were willing to pay 214 million euros for Kylian Mbappé in 2017, who chose to join Paris Saint-Gemain in the end.

According to L’Equipe, in the summer of 2017, Los Blancos reached an agreement with the AS Monaco for a transfer of 180 million euros and assuming a payment of 34 million in taxes. The operation would have increased to 214 million.

Despite the attempt of the European champions, Mbappé opted for the Parisian club. The only condition put Dimitri Vasyliev, vice president of AS Monaco, is that PSG equaled the offer proposed by the Real Madrid, although he was reluctant to strengthen a rival in Ligue 1.

The transfer was finished materializing the last market day of signings through an assignment with compulsory purchase option for 180 million euros.

More over, the French wonderkid asked Monaco for the same salary as Radamel Falcao, or 8 million euros net per year, 16 times his first salary negotiated in March 2016.
