Bianconeri have historically been successful in signing free agents
The talks with the 30-year-old ex-Valencia man are reportedly yet to be held. The Spaniard understandably wishes to stay at Old Trafford despite not being handed enough playing time. Such is also the wish of Jose Mourinho, who wants to keep the player for his impressive work-rate and strong influence in the dressing room.

It appears that Jose’s good-intentions might not suffice after all, given that the club’s management are in no hurry to extend with Juan.

To top it all off, Standard.co.uk understand there are a number of clubs following the midfielder’s situation at the club and desiring to sign him if there is such an opportunity. The Spanish side Valencia are the ones to be the favorites if it comes to choosing a football club for Juan, as the latter spent there four years (2007-2011) until his transfer to Chelsea. Other clubs on the list are Oviedo, and, notably, Juventus.

The Old Lady by far are the clear-cut favorites to land Juan Mata – they have excellent recruitment policy, which saw the likes of Pogba, Evra and Cristiano Ronaldo join the club, as well as wealth of experience in landing free agents with Patrice Evra, Sami Khedira, Dani Alves and Emre Can being outstanding signings in recent years.

And, finally, Juventus have Ronaldo, who could become a critical factor in bringing the big names to the Allianz Arena.

Mata joined United in 2014. With Rashford, Martial and Alexis the midfielder struggles to find his way back to United’s starting XI: he has only started twice this season but managed to score 2 goals and provide the team with an assist.
