Real Madrid have reportedly begun negotiations with former Chelsea and Italy Coach Antonio Conte, claim Sportitalia and the Corriere dello Sport.

Julen Lopetegui is under huge pressure after a series of dismal results, as they have failed to score in their last four competitive games, resulting in a draw and three defeats.

The reigning champions of Europe were beaten 3-0 by Sevilla in La Liga, then 1-0 by both CSKA Moscow and Alaves.

It’s reported Real Madrid directors contacted Conte on Monday to ask if he was available.

Conte is still caught up in a legal battle with Premier League side Chelsea over unfair dismissal, as the club refused to pay the €10m penalty for firing him to make way for Maurizio Sarri.

However, he could perhaps be convinced to let that go for the opportunity to take one of the biggest roles in football.

The next couple of matches will be decisive for Lopetegui, as he’ll take on Levante in La Liga and then host Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League.
