The Croatian midfielder for a moment stopped thinking about the World Cup to give his thoughts about the transfer of Real Madrid’s best player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric thanked Cristiano Ronaldo for his extraordinary contribution to the club as he left for Juventus.

Modric, who is the captain of Croatia that will lead the team in the World Cup finals on Sunday, has expressed disappointment about the trasnfer.

“My desire for Cristiano was to stay. He is unique and it is a pity to leave, “the 32-year-old told reporters after winning the semi-finals against England.

“I thanked him for everything he did at Real Madrid. I wish him the best but not against Real Madrid”.

At the moment, Modric said he was focused on helping Croatia to win France and his country to win the World Cup for the first time.

Former Tottenham player has been highly praised by coach Zlatko Dalic but has said he does not care whether he will be the best player in the World Cup.

“I do not care about the Golden Ball, really,” Modric said.

“I just think about the final and I dream of raising the trophy with my friends. That’s what we want “.
