Barça de Valverde last unbeaten team in Europe
If it were necessary to be objective, it would be fair to recall that the first defeat of
Barça was conceded last summer at the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid. In other words, FC Barcelona lost their unbeaten record in their first official match of the season. Still, since that double setback, both in and out, Ernesto Valverde’s troops have managed to remain invincible.
These were the last with Manchester City in the major European championships. If Pep Guardiola’s men had indeed known the defeat in Ukraine in December in the Champions League, they remained undefeated in the Premier League this season … until this weekend. Valverde and Barça, however, were able to take advantage of Manchester City’s defeat to Liverpool on Sunday (3-4) to become the only team in this case at the start of this second half of the season.
Note however that FC Barcelona was not far from the correctional Sunday night in Anoeta. Before the awakening of Barça, Real Sociedad led indeed 2-0 … but eventually bow before the superiority of men Ernesto Valverde (2-4).
