Despite Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho claiming they ‘would open the door for Neymar’, Spanish paper Marca do blast the speculations, providing three reasons for the transfer to fall through.
Reputation: “It is said that the player has offered himself to Barcelona for a return, but Josep Maria Bartomeu cannot give in to the pressure. Firstly, because nobody would understand how you let such a player be robbed and them pay over the odds to bring him back.”
Feud: “Secondly, the club and the player are involved in a legal tangle and have a date in court. There are several million euros at stake. The idea of letting bygones be bygones doesn’t appear feasible in this case.
