The Welshman has become the piece of the jigsaw that Real Madrid needed to recover their spark.

With the Copa del Rey still in play, Paris Saint-Germain around the corner and w ith the obligation to fight in the league, Gareth Bale’s re-emergence on the scene is like having a new winter signing.

Madrid are much faster, more dangerous and score more with their ‘flyer’ in the side.

He makes his teammates better and, against Depor, unleashed a golazo to see Los Blancos take the lead against a stubborn opponent.

It was a special strike that had the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on its feet.

The goals were only part of an outstanding display of dribbling and passing, however.

Bale returned in style

He had been warning for some time that he was eager to get going again, and on Sunday he made it clear that he is close to his best form.

With nine goals and six assists he is the team’s second-leading scorer and Madrid’s recovery seems to be attributable to him.

“I am happy to play again, to be at this level and to continue improving,” he said after the match against Depor.

“There are still great games to come and of course I want to play and win those type of games.

“I feel good, I’m still not one hundred percent, but little by little I’ll be getting back to the best condition possible.

“I think Real will return to their best, but we have to be realistic.

“We’ll never give up and we have to start winning games.”
