Jesús Vallejo has suffered a muscular injury to his right hamstring, Sanitas-Real Madrid medical team confirmed today. The report issued by the club was vague about the severity of the injury and how long the defender is expected to be sidelined but according to AS collaborator Doctor González, it looks likely that Vallejo has suffered a tear and faces between four and six weeks out.

Vallejo pulled up clutching the back of his right leg just 13 minutes into Thursday’s Copa del Rey tie at Leganés. He was treated pitchside but clearly looked in severe pain and could be heard saying that it knew it was a muscle tear as he left the field at Butarque.

Real Madrid’s medical report:
“Following the tests carried out today on our player Jesús Vallejo at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to his right hamstring. His recovery will continue to be assessed”.
