A blessing in disguise or one more year of poor refereeing
Premier League clubs have decided it best to postpone the introduction of video assistant referee (VAR) for the next season. They believe the system too raw and want it tried additionally in the FA Cup and League Cup matches.

The system is already used in Seria A and other various divisions across Europe and will be in operation at the World Cup in Russia this summer.

•Manchester United have already suffered from the system when they saw Juan Mata’s goal against Huddersfield in the FA Cup wrongly disallowed although it was mostly due to lack of footage.

The man to be deprived of that goal, Mata, is not opposed to VAR, but he believes it still needs some adjustments.
