Despite his triumphant return in the competition for Pichichi, Ronaldo is fully focused on the Champions League.
Winning this season’s Pichichi, especially after his unbelievable comeback following the crisis at the start of the season, would be a nice consolation as Ronaldo always want to be better than Lionel Messi but the main target is the Champions League.

• Ronaldo will be given a rest for Madrid’s away game at Las Palmas, that is coming three days before the Champions League clash in Turin and while the Portuguese is now aiming to become the top scorer, with only 3 goals diving him and Messi, he is prioritising Europe.

Madrid’s season depends on the Champions League with La Liga title out of reach. And Ronaldo is well aware that his form in the final stage of the season is crucial for the club. He also knows that to extend his carrer he need to pick the important matches where he should be at his absolute best. The poor form at the start of the campaign – just like the last season – is not a problem for him and is in fact the part of his strategy.

He already has 18 goals in the second half of the capaign and eight consecutive games scoring which is his second best run with Real. Since resting against Espanyol he has scored nine goals in four games and so missing the Las Palmas game is a good plan especially having in mind the length of the journey.
