Almost two years and 74 league games without conceding a penalty

Alaves left the Camp Nou with the feeling that they could have had a late penalty, and the fact it wasn’t given means that it’s been 74 league matches across almost two years since once was given against Barcelona.

In the same time frame, the Catalans have been given 32 in favour.

Of all the controversial decisions of Iglesias Villanueva on Sunday night, the one which Alaves most protested was when the ball hit Samuel Umtiti’s hand in the 89th minute.

None of the last 219 penalties in the Spanish top flight have been against the Blaugrana.

The last one came on February 14, 2016, scored by Alaves’ Guidetti, then playing for Celta, in a game that ended 6-1.
